LIUNA Local 785 Builds Energy Systems from Natural Gas Extraction to Solar Panels
LIUNA Local 785 members assist in the construction and maintenance of power plants and substations, digging trenches for lines and backfilling, road repair after line installation, and supporting infrastructure such as oil and gas pipelines. Members also have skills in new technologies and are trained installers of solar panels, wind turbines, and green roofs, as well as building retrofit specialists.
Front end pipeline work, ground surface pipe handling and pipe fusion, pipe handling in the trench, coating crew, back end pipeline work, pipeline specialty construction.
Renewable Energy Work
Concrete work, digging footers, laying underground utilities, setting up racking systems for photovoltaic modules, manufacturing mirrors for concentrating solar power systems and assembling photovoltaic systems.
Highway and Roadwork
Asphalt patching and repair, asphalt placing and paving, electronic grade and slope control, line and grade hand signals and GPS set up, elevation control measuring techniques, forklift operation, total station transportation set up and transportation, traffic control, flagging, confined space, concrete restoration and new work, bridge construction and demolition.
Scaffold building, systems scaffold, stocking masonry material, forklift and skid steer operation, mason and plaster tending and mixing, hoisting and rigging, crane safety, concrete, carpenter tending, demolition and cleanup, asbestos, lead and mold remediation, hazardous waste worker.
Our extensive safety and skills training focuses on jobsite skills, safety knowledge and progression to supervision.
